FAQs

I already have financial and legal advisors. Why should I work with Lead?

Lead offers an unbiased and collaborative approach to solving family and business issues by considering the full range of financial, legal, wealth management and relationship issues that are at play in a family enterprise. In this way, our advisory services are generally more holistic than those offered by individual advisors with specific areas of expertise.

We understand that you may have developed a long and trusting relationship with your advisors. Our team can work with your current advisors to provide comprehensive recommendations and a fresh perspective, and our expertise complements and enhances the efforts of your current advisors.

If I hire Lead to work with my family, do I have to use your advisors to implement your proposed solutions?

You are under no obligation to use Lead advisors to implement our recommendations. It is completely up to you to decide whether you wish to engage Lead advisors, your current advisor or a new advisor for implementation.

What do you mean when you say your advice is unbiased?

Lead advisors are successful professionals who have established careers in their own firms. They are not full-time employees of Lead.

We are collaborating to offer our services as Family Enterprise Advisors because we believe this is the best way to serve our family enterprise clients. And while you are always welcome to hire one or more of our advisors to implement our recommendations, there is absolutely no obligation for you to do so.

Throughout the process, our goal is to empower you so that you are making decisions from a place of knowledge. Indeed, we believe that an integral part of our role is helping our clients better understand the world of advisors and the advisory process so that they can make decisions that are in the best interest of their family enterprise.

What if some of my family members don’t want to participate in this process?

We encourage all family members to participate. However, if this is not possible, we will develop our recommendations drawing on input from as many family members as possible.

Our role is to create a welcoming and inclusive process where everyone’s perspective can be heard and all relevant stakeholders are represented. When full participation is not possible, we will develop strategies to help those who do wish to engage in an assessment or related advisory services help people come together.

We will also work with you to assess the cost and benefits of proceeding without full participation or taking time and revisiting the idea at a more appropriate juncture.

What will an assessment cost?

The cost of an assessment depends on various factors, with basic assessments generally starting at $15,000. During our initial meeting, we will talk with you about the potential number of participants, the number and complexity of any operating businesses, your time frames and geographical considerations. This information will help us better understand your unique situation and enable us to provide you with a firm quote for our assessment costs.

Lead also offers consulting by our individual advisors, separate from our comprehensive review process. These individual consulting fees are determined by each individual advisor based on the nature and scope of the project or situation.

Does an introductory meeting cost anything?

We are happy to meet with you to discuss your situation at no cost. One or two advisors may be involved in the conversation.
